For the previous few years, the Broughton Community Choir and Ashton Sings have teamed up to bring you “Sea and Cake” sea shanty workshops over the summer months.
Sadly this year, as with many other events, it is not possible to run physical sessions, so we are going to put together 2 virtual sea shanty performances instead.

We have chosen two contrasting shanties - Whip Jamboree and Tom’s Gone to Hilo, and will be asking people to produce a video of themselves singing one of the parts. These will be combined to produce a video of a massed performance of the 2 pieces.

Resources
The backing tracks, instructions, scores and all the things you need to participate can be found on our Virtual Sea and Cake Resources page.

In addition, Martin Jones will run two Zoom workshops to look at the parts if that is helpful. These will take place on Monday 10th August, and Wednesday 26th August at 8pm. Please email us martin@woodlandquarter.co.uk if you would like joining details.

When we have all the videos, we will edit them together to produce our finished “performance” which we will issue with a Zoom “launch party”, provisionally on the weekend of September 12/13th.

Costs
It is not practical to formally charge for participation, but this project will be a lot of work and it is my job, so I am "inviting" participants to make a contribution of £3 if you wish. My preferred way to do this is by bank transfer, or you can send me a cheque or use PayPal. Please email martin@woodlandquarter.co.uk for details, or for PayPal go to paypal.me/woodlandquarter
